This heading echoes a saying Mbuyelo has just recently adopted as its motto, yet it is already becoming a pleasant reality! Monday the 8th of August 2011, was slightly more precious than any other day of the year, as perseverance proved to conquer yet again, when Mbuyelo Mining Contractor’s first earth-moving machinery left the CATERPILLAR manufacturer in Wynberg, and were officially handed-over to the eager owners on its way to Elandspruit, the very first of the operations that Mbuyelo would be involved as a mining contractor.
Management and family gathered to witness this moment which is sure to remain special to Mbuyelo long after the day! Spirits soured as the proud family made its way through the CATEPILLAR gates as the machines were prepared for dispatch. Mbuyelo Mining Contractor’s director, Mr. Xolile Mdolo confirmed the new developments of the company, stating that the company has just recently purchased ten (10) earth-moving machines and five (5) have already been delivered. |
Among the five are: a 140G grader; three (3) 740 IP- series articulating CAT dumpers; and a 385 CAT excavator for loading (-which is ideal for the size of the pit the company is opening!). Mbuyelo is expecting delivery on the rest in a mere couple of weeks and then it’s all systems go! “The purpose of acquiring this machinery is so that we would be able to someday mine all our operations on our own, be it open-cast or underground,” clarified Mr Mdolo. He also mentioned the company’s intentions to grow its human resources, and attempts to shy away from subcontracting. Mbuyelo Mining Contractors (Pty) Ltd has therefore partnered with another company which has been in the industry for a couple of years, Black Spear (Pty) Ltd. This merger was a suitable decision for Mbuyelo, as the above-mentioned company has the adequate expertise, workforce and skills and has agreed to impart these as constituent of their Joint Venture Agreement.
Mbuyelo CEO Mr. R.O Siweya handed-out kudos to everyone in plain view; CATEPILLAR management and owners, Mbuyelo management, as well as those involved with the branding of these long-awaited giants. In closing, Mr Mdolo highlights, “We wish to acknowledge that we are still a growing company and want to prove to our peers that you would have to get your hands dirty with the rest of the workforce- away from the boardroom at times, to understand your assets and just how imperative it is to mine your assets yourself and make it a complete success!”
Whether you remember that ‘Perseverance Conquers’ or you prefer ‘Practice makes Perfect’, the idea is the same; hard work pays off!
